Local teenager competing in Indianapolis pageant

A Columbus girl who was selected to participate in a teen pageant will compete for prizes and gifts and the opportunity to represent Indiana in a national pageant.

Kyra Evans, 14, will compete in the Miss Jr. Teen division of the 2018 Miss Teen Indianapolis pageant April 15 at Avon High School.

Kyra, a freshman who takes classes through the Indiana Online Academy, was accepted into this year’s competition after submitting an application and taking part in an interview.

She is the daughter of Kenneth and Janet Evans.

The Miss Jr. Teen division is one of four divisions that will have girls and young women ages 7 through 20 competing in modeling routines, which include Casual Wear and Formal Wear. Contestants also display their personality and interviewing skills while interviewing with the judging panel.

Winners receive a share of the the prizes and specialty gifts that are worth thousands of dollars. The Miss Jr. Teen winner also gets to participate in a national competition in Orlando, Florida, where more than $30,000 in prizes and awards will be presented, and each winner receives an expense-paid trip of five nights and six days in Orlando.
