Mary I. Ross

Mary I. Ross, 81, of Columbus, passed away peacefully at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mary was born October 8, 1936, in Columbus, IN, the daughter of Clyde and Florence Strietelmeier Brewer. She married Joseph W. Ross on October 27, 1958, in Wilcox County, Alabama.

Mrs. Ross worked at Columbus Industry, Vernco and Cummins Engine Company over the years. She enjoyed sitting on the front porch with her crossword puzzles and spending time with family. Every day she would watch the Andy Griffith Show and Gunsmoke.

Surviving are her children, Chris (Kris) Ross of Jonesville and Cathy (Ken) Weichman of Columbus; grandchildren, Tom (Sarah) Ross and Mindy (Nate) Hall, both of Columbus, Justin Weichman of North Vernon and Adam Weichman of Greenwood; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Beulah Ross of Columbus and Susie (Carl) Kuhlman of Freetown; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; sister, Genet Lowe; and brothers-in-law, Ivan Lowe and James Ross.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Family and friends may call Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
