Brian’s picks

1) You are best advised to sit up and pay attention when Columbus Indiana Philharmonic music director David Bowden brings back a performer for a return engagement with the local professional ensemble. Pianist Sean Chen, who christened the orchestra’s terrific new piano last season, will play Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 at the latest concert at 7:30 p.m. April 28 at Judson Erne Auditorium, 1400 25th St. Information and tickets: 812-376-2638 or thecip.org.

2) Columbus native and top folk artist Tim Grimm and Seymour native and country artist Stephanie Lambring will be among the lineup of performers for Seymour’s initial Crossroads Acoustic Fest on April 27 and 28 at various intimate, small-setting “listening room” venues in Seymour. Much of the lineup includes Nashville-based artists, according to organizers. Shows will be conducted simultaneously both nights, and festival-goers will be able to choose which artists they want to see and move freely from one venue to another.
