Restaurant uses fair booth to boost its crowdfunding campaign

A hotdog restaurant in the FairOaks Mall that employs individuals with special needs has met about one-third of its $50,000 fundraising goal to help it relocate to downtown Columbus.

Just over $17,000 has been raised and more work is ahead to meet an Aug. 2 deadline, said Randy Lapidus, who co-owns the restaurant with his wife Robin. They have been at the FairOaks Mall since last October.

The couple is using a booth in Building 3 at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair as a way to promote the business and its fundraising efforts.

“The crowdfunding campaign takes you through a rollercoaster ride,” Randy Lapidus said.

Although the restaurant is currently behind in meeting its goal, Randy Lapidus said the overall confidence level remains high.

“You always hope your numbers will be higher,” he said. “We are not stopping. We are going to make sure this happens.”
