Flintwood Wesleyan — Amplify (nontraditional) at 9 a.m. and The Well (traditional) at 11 a.m. will both be led Sunday by Pastor Wes Jones in the main sanctuary of the church, 5300 E. 25th St. The Prayer Team will meet at 8 a.m. and Sunday school classes will meet at 10 a.m. in their regular rooms. Adult choir practice will begin at 5 p.m., followed at 6 p.m. by the evening service.

On Wednesday, The Prayer Team will meet at 6 p.m. in The Prayer Room and adult Bible study will meet at 6:30 p.m. in The Friendship Center.

St. Paul’s Episcopal — The church, located at 2651 California St., invites all to join as the congregation reaches back into its historical traditions and offers a special service of morning prayer with Holy Eucharist at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. A pitch-in brunch will follow.

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbus — The Rev. Nic Cable will deliver the sermon, “Homecoming Sunday,” at the 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 7850 W. Goeller Blvd. As a new program year starts, the congregation will open its hearts to what the new year may bring and bless the children and their backpacks as they prepare for another school year.

Westside Community — Pastor Dennis Aud will lead the 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 124 Tipton Lakes Blvd. His message, “You Ain’t the Boss of Me!,” will include Scripture from Galatians 5:19-26. The children’s program through grade 6 will meet at the same time as the service.

Because the entrance to Tipton Lakes Boulevard from State Road 46 is closed due to road construction, church-goers are instead encouraged to use Goeller Boulevard from the east or County Road 525W from the west.

St. Paul Lutheran — Pastor Doug Bauman’s sermon at the 8 and 10:45 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 6045 E. State St., will be based on Scripture from John 6:22-35. St. Paul’s kantor and organist, Daniel Mau, will lead the adult Bible class at 9:30 a.m. and speak on the history and development of Lutheran hymnody.

Rally Day on Aug. 12 will celebrate a new year of Christian education classes, held each Sunday between services with “Molded and Shaped” as the theme.

At 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. each Wednesday, Pastor Bauman will lead a Bible study focusing on Isaiah and the gospel of Matthew, respectively. All are invited to attend.

First United Methodist — A 10 a.m. unified service will take place Sunday at the church, 618 Eighth St., where the Rev. Howard Boles will deliver a message, “A View from the Sanctuary.” Scripture will include Psalm 133. A picnic will follow the service at 11:30 a.m. at Donner Park, 739 22nd St, featuring a live and silent auction. Proceeds will help fund an upcoming mission trip.

First Presbyterian — The sermon to be delivered at the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 512 Seventh St., will be “I Am the Bread of Life.” Scripture will include John 6:24-35. The congregation will also celebrate the sacrament of Communion. Infant and toddler care will be available from 9:15 to 11 a.m.

The men’s and women’s support groups meet at 7 a.m. Fridays. A second support group for working-age men meets at 6:15 a.m. every Monday.

People in need of a meal are invited to the Hot Meals program offered at 5 p.m. Friday, with entrance through the glass doors on Franklin Street.

The church is LGBTQ-friendly and open and affirming to all.

Petersville United Methodist — The 9 a.m. worship service Sunday at the church, 2781 N. County Road 500E, Petersville, will mark the beginning of a month-long celebration of the 150th anniversary of the church’s founding. The Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry’s theme will be “Past, Present and Future,” and tie in to Scripture from John, Acts and 1 Corinthians. Lay Leader Jay Bush will help with the service. Teresa Covert will give the children’s message. A baby baptism will take place and Communion will be served. The Rev. John Kiviiri of Uganda will be a special guest. He will be presented with a monetary gift for use in establishing a church in his country. After a time of fellowship, a brunch will be held in Kiviiri’s honor at 11 a.m. Meat, bread and drinks will be provided. Those planning to attend should bring a side dish to share. The community is invited.

Flintwood Wesleyan — The Flintwood Outdoor Market will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon today at the church, 5300 E. 25th St., featuring local vendors and garage sale items. Rental money for spaces goes toward local projects.

The next Senior Adult Ministries luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.

The annual Harold Carr Memorial Golf Outing will be Aug. 11 at Clifty Creek Golf Course, 12000 E. County Road 225N, Hope. Lunch will be served at noon, with tee time at 1 p.m. The cost is $45 per person and includes lunch, 18 holes of golf with cart, a sleeve of golf balls, prizes and four mulligans. GLOW, God Lights Our World, will resume Aug. 15.

The church’s annual Building Hope 5K Walk/Run Event is scheduled for Aug. 25. Pre-race activities will begin at 7:30 a.m. Registration and sign-in will start at 8 a.m., with the race to follow at 9 a.m. Cost: $25 for adults; $15 for children ages 12 and younger. Tuesday Connection (Community Church of Columbus) — This 12-week collection of groups for adults, teens and children will launch its fall series Aug. 28 at the church, 3850 N. Marr Road. Classes will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m., with dinner available between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. each week. Groups include DivorceCare; Embrace Grace; Single and Parenting; Celebrate Recovery; Insight; Breathe; Kingdom Man; English as a Second Language; Starting Point; The Landing; DC4K, DivorceCare for Kids; Celebration Place; and Trivial Bible Pursuit.
