Driver arrested after head-on collision on Goeller Boulevard

A local man was arrested on drug-related charges after he was involved in a head-on collision in the 5400 block of West Goeller Boulevard.

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies Jessica Pendleton and Teancum Clark were sent to the accident at 12:39 p.m. Saturday, deputies said.

A Ford Focus and a Toyota Sienna were in the roadway on West Goeller, both with heavy front-end damage, deputies said. The driver of the Toyota, Shirley Bozell, 75, Columbus, said she was traveling east on Goeller when she saw the Ford Focus approaching her vehicle head-on.

After the vehicles collided, Bozell was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital where she was treated and released.

The driver of the Ford, Philip Menefee, 40, of 6047 Chinkapin Drive, was treated at the hospital also, and then arrested on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (drugs) and possession of a controlled substance, deputies said.
