Columbus actress gets first starring role in national TV movie

Staff Reports

Columbus native and actress Chaley Jackson acknowledged that she truly had to access her acting abilities while portraying the female lead of Angela in her latest film, “Dinner For Two.”

“It was a bit of a challenge,” Jackson said during recent online promotional interviews, emphasizing that she personally is a radically different person than the movie character. “… That’s what scared me about it. But it also drew me to it.”

Jackson, better known on TV and the big screen by her professional name of Chaley Rose, was last seen nationally as a physician on several episodes of the CBS drama “Code Black” in the spring. In that role, she also confessed in interviews that she had to adjust to the idea of being a nervous character when that is hardly her natural bent.

The new flick, shot in Atlanta, will air at 7 p.m. Sept. 2 on TV One. Jackson’s longest and best-known TV run came with the ABC series “Nashville,” in which she spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons playing singer Zoey. She is a Columbus East High School graduate.

Actor Tristan “Mack” Wilds (from “The Wire” and “90210”) plays Chris, a man battling both grief, alcoholism and a suicidal depression. In a complicated love story about life and sacrifice, “Dinner For Two” details a solution to healing a broken heart.

In preparation for his “last supper,” Chris sets the mood by recreating a favorite dish he shared with his once-beloved Angela. After several drinks, Chris starts reminiscing about their romance and feels remorseful about their split. To permanently numb the pain, Chris contemplates taking his own life, as Angela refuses to love him back and forgive his downward alcoholic spiral.
