City adds firefighter to ranks

The Columbus Fire Department has hired Joshua Meadows as its newest firefighter.

Meadows, 35, is from Trafalgar and is a 2001 Graduate of Indian Creek High School. He has served with the Nineveh Volunteer Fire Department for eight years, and part-time with the Greenwood Fire Department for 16 years, according to a news release.

His certifications include: Indiana Firefighter I and II, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Hazardous Materials Technician. Meadows has extensive apparatus operations training and officer leadership training.

Firefighter I and II certifications meets the minimum job performance requirements for career and volunteer firefighters whose duties are primarily structural firefighting in nature.

Meadows will undergo a department familiarization training program. After completing the training, Meadows will receive a shift schedule and station assignment, the news release said.
