Columbus native covers NASCAR’S Brickyard 400

A Columbus student who attends Ball State University recently helped provide coverage of the Brickyard 400 race for NASCAR’s social media accounts.

Seena Greiwe, a sophomore majoring in telecommunications digital sports production, collaborated with NASCAR Digital Media to provide content about the race, which was held last month.

Greiwe produced video content through her involvement with Ball State Sports Link, an organization that provides opportunities for digital sports production students to apply their multimedia skills to national sporting events. She is a 2017 graduate of Columbus East High School.

“My experience with NASCAR was something I will never forget,” Greiwe said. “While working, I stood and looked around and got chills because I realized how lucky I am to have opportunities like this and none of it would be possible without Sports Link.”

Each student brought a skill set ranging from copywriting for social media to film and photography, and NASCAR used content the students created for their Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for the race Sept. 8 to 10 in Indianapolis.

“Sports Link prepared me for this experience because they made sure I knew what was expected of me, and they have done a great job of teaching me everything about shooting and editing that I need to know to be successful,” Greiwe said. “Also, my experience working the NCAA championships this past year through Sports Link was also a major help in preparing me because during the championships, I had to produce quality content quickly just like we did for NASCAR.”
