Letter: Class of ’73 reunion wonderful time

Thanks to those for pulling off a great reunion for the Columbus High School Class of 1973. The last time I was in Columbus was for our 40th Reunion, and to my surprise I barely recognized my hometown.

I was very happy when I got to Donner Center where the reunion was being held, because unlike the rest of Columbus it hadn’t changed a bit. I was also relieved to learn it wasn’t being held in the swimming pool.

The turnout seemed very high, and entering Donner Center was like wading into a sea of familiar faces, many of which still live in the Columbus area. I saw many people I have never seen here before and figured they must have traveled many miles to renew relationships and friendships. It was so much fun spending hours recanting stories and antics from 45 years ago. But it’s also important to reflect on those classmates we have lost over the years, and cherish those that remain. That is what makes milestone reunions like this so important.

I have to echo what I heard Stan Durnal state: “I was happy to see old friends, but sorry it took so long to meet the other great people from our class.”

I understand some of the key people that worked tirelessly pulling this reunion together were Cindy Crum Perdue, Bonita Robertson and Durnal, and I’m sure a host of others that made this reunion a wonderful and memorable event. Thanks to all.

They say things only get better with age, so with that in mind our 50th should be exactly what Bill and Ted exclaimed: “Excellent! So party on till we see meet again."
