North graduate earns HCAC Athlete of Week honor

Hanover’s Arig Tong has been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

Tong, a freshman from Columbus North, finished sixth in Friday’s Jenna Strong Fall Classic at Wilmington (Ohio) in a personal-best 18 minutes, 28.4 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Her time ranks third on Hanover’s all-time list.

Tong was the top NCAA Division III finisher, coming in behind four Division I and one unattached runner. She led the Panthers to an 11th-place finish out of 35 teams.
