Yes Film Festival jury prize winners named

Organizers for the local YES Film Festival, running Friday through Sunday at YES Cinema, 328 Jackson St. in Columbus, have announced the jury prize winners in each of the event’s three categories.

The winning selections from the 20 entries in the festival are:

Best Narrative — “Black Kite,” highlighting a person’s love of kite-flying set against the backdrop of the restrictive Taliban.

Best Documentary — Killer Bees,” highlighting a successful school from “the other side of the tracks in the well-to-do Hamptons.

Best Short — “Fauve,” about two youngsters who sink into a seemingly innocent power game with Mother Nature.

Prizes were awarded by a 10-person jury comprised of filmmakers, media representatives, actors, producers and directors from film festivals across the United States.

The audience awards will be determined based upon audience member voting during the festival. Proceeds from ticket sales of $7 apiece or $35 for an all-access pass will benefit the work of the nonprofit local Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center in downtown Columbus.
