Drive raises $844 for Toys for Tots

A two-hour Toys for Tots toy and fund drive raised $844 on Dec. 1 at the three McDonald’s restaurants in Columbus.

During the drop-off times, 20 percent of restaurant sales were donated to Toys for Tots, Columbus McDonald’s owner Andy Ball said.

Restaurant patrons were also encouraged to drop off new, unused toys or make cash donations to Toys for Tots of Bartholomew/Jennings County, a program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that assists youth through age 18 whose parents cannot afford to buy Christmas gifts.

Monetary donations through personal checks, made out to Toys for Tots, can be mailed to: Toys for Tots, 1642 Lafayette Ave., Columbus, IN 47201.

This year’s toy distribution will be Dec. 15.
