Several amateur photographers with local connections are among the finalists in the third annual Farm & Nature Photo Contest, hosted by the Oak Heritage Conservancy and George Rogers Clark Land Trust.
The prompt for the contest was, “What’s the Indiana that you imagine when you close your eyes?”
Amateur photographers submitted more than 270 photos, and each one had to be taken in Indiana. Forty photos are finalists for the grand prize.

Photographers with finalist entries and local connections include:
Steve McLanahan, of North Vernon, whose photo shows a fern shining and green in a forest
Karen Conover, a Waldron resident and Jennings County native who had two photos selected: a snuggled-up tree frog and two cattle (owned by Conrad Family Farms and Pete Gordon) grazing on the Helt farm in Jennings County
Marilyn Durham, of Seymour, whose photos shows a windmill against a blue sky
Louis Wonning, a Seymour farmer, whose photo shows a tractor cultivating corn
The public can vote for the grand prize winner. To see the 40 winning photos and cast a vote, go online at oakheritageconservancy.org/get-involved/photoexhibit/.
Voting will end in March, after the photos have been exhibited around southern Indiana.
The Grand Prize winner will receive a one-year membership to Oak Heritage Conservancy.
