Artist reception today for photo exhibit at Hotel Indigo

COLUMBUS, Ind. — An artist reception for a new, free exhibit featuring the works of Columbus photographer Shannon Malanoski will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Hotel Indigo Columbus Architectural Center, 400 Brown St.

Malanoski’s work has been published locally, regionally and nationally.

She enjoys photographing what she calls “Columbus’ architectural mecca,” and specializes in community events and culture. In the past, she has said she especially likes finding new ways to frame well-known local images such as the Chaos I sculpture in The Commons.

When her work has been a part of the local Annual Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show, organizer Marilyn Brackney mentioned that Malanoski’s local images remind her of the work by the late Balthazar Korab, the acclaimed architectural and landscape photographer. His iconic shots of Columbus are nationally known and part of a coffee table book, “Columbus, Indiana: An American Landmark.”

The exhibit runs through the end of April.
