Three vehicles involved in early-morning accident

Three vehicles were involved in an early-morning crash on County Road 325W just past Georgetown Road.

The accident was reported at 7:39 a.m. Wednesday, said Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Capt. Dave Steinkoenig.

A vehicle was northbound and crossed the center line, clipping a southbound vehicle and then colliding head-on with another southbound vehicle that was behind the first, he said.

The driver of the vehicle who crossed the center line was taken by Lifeline helicopter from the scene, suffering from injuries to his legs and shoulder, Steinkoenig said. Columbus and Columbus Township firefighters extricated that driver from his vehicle, he said.

The identities of the drivers of the three vehicles were not released by investigators on Wednesday. The road was closed for about an hour and a half as emergency responders from the departments worked at the scene.
