Local student attends white coat ceremony
Lincoln Memorial University — DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine formally welcomed the Class of 2021 into its study of osteopathic medicine at its annual White Coat Ceremony on April 18.
Jordan Austin of Scipio received his white coat. Austin is a rising third-year osteopathic medical student at the university. Austin previously attended University of Indianapolis and Lincoln Memorial University for graduate studies.

2 receive scholarships for achievements
The Columbus Educators Association recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to two high school seniors. Isabella Seavers, Columbus North High Schoo, and McKenna Major, Columbus East High School, were selected for outstanding achievement in the classroom and for extra-curricular participation in school and community.
Students receive Simon Foundation scholarships
Two Bartholomew County students have received scholarships totaling $40,000 from the Simon Youth Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to helping students graduate and pursue post-secondary education.
Madelyn Cracchiolo, a graduate of Simon Youth Academy at Edinburgh Premium Outlets, was awarded a four-year scholarship for a total amount of $32,000. She plans to attend IUPUI.
Tyler Short, a graduate of Simon Youth Academy at Edinburgh Premium Outlets, was awarded a two-year scholarship for a total amount of $8,000. He plans to attend Ivy Tech Community College of Columbus.
Simon Youth Academy at Edinburgh Premium Outlets is an alternative classroom setting operated in partnership with Edinburgh Community Schools. The school is one of four Simon Youth Academies in Indiana.
Simon Youth Foundation has awarded $267,000 in post-secondary scholarships to 54 high school graduates from Indiana this year.
