JENNINGS COUNTY — Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies arrested five people after going to a Columbia Township home to serve an arrest warrant on one of the individuals.
Deputies were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on John Boyd, 54, North Vernon at 12:36 p.m. Tuesday, said Chief Deputy David Turner.
They located Boyd and several other individuals, and while there observed illegal substances in plain view, Turner said. Deputy Thomas Mellencamp was granted a search warrant by Jennings Circuit Court Judge Jon Webster to search the residence, Turner said.
Deputies found 90 grams of methamphetamine, four firearms and numerous drug paraphernalia items, Turner said. They also seized $2,200 found in the home.
Arrested were:
- John Boyd, 54, North Vernon (address on file at jail also listed as Plainfield), on preliminary charges of felony dealing in methamphetamine, felony possession of more than 28 grams of methamphetamine, felony possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, felony possession of a syringe, felony possession of a controlled substance, a Jennings County warrant and a Marion County warrant. He was being held at the Jennings County Jail on $10,000 bond, jail officials said.
- Rodney Mead, 50, Scipio, felony possession of marijuana and felony possession of a syringe. Mead’s bond was set at $3,155.
- Hope Tarpley, 44, Plainfield, felony possession of methamphetamine more than 5 grams, felony possession of a syringe. Tarpley’s bond was set at $10,000.
- Heather Cheesebrew, 42, North Vernon, felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia. Cheesebrew’s bond was set at $3,155.
- Tamara Ross, 33, North Vernon, felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia. Ross’ bond was set at $3,155.
Assisting officers were Deputy Shawn Minton, Detective Jeff Jones, Detective Jim Blevins, Sheriff Kenny Freeman, Major Dave Turner, Deputy Chris Gholson, Deputy Eric Pettit and Jennings County Animal Control.
