ASAP to deliver community progress report

The Alliance for Substance Abuse Progress will deliver a Community Progress Report at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at The Commons in downtown Columbus.

Topics will include an update on the substance abuse crisis in Bartholomew County, progress made in the community’s Prevention and Recovery System and the introduction of the ASAP Hub to the community.

“Since our last report to the community, a great deal of progress has been made,” said Doug Leonard, ASAP executive director. “The time is right to share that progress, as well as discuss plans moving forward.”

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and ASAP officials are encouraging community residents to stop in early to browse Prevention and Recovery System partner exhibits at The Commons.

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department will be hosting a Drug Take Back, accepting legal prescriptions and over-the-counter medications for disposal. Liquids or sharps cannot be accepted.

The progress report meeting is free and open to the public.
