The recent 33rd Annual Our Hospice of South Central Indiana concert featuring ‘80s rock band Survivor netted $124,000.

That’s slightly below organizers’ goal of $125,000 but still tying the event record from 2017 for the nonprofit agency’s work of providing end-of-life care for patients and families in 16 counties in south central Indiana. The agency was among the first in the state to do such work in the 1980s.

The yearly classic rock gathering, which began in 1987, raises money through souvenir, cookie and raffle ticket sales — not to mention artwork and homemade cooking grills.

A total of 4,779 of 5,000 raffle tickets were sold, which helped the cause, according to Laura Leonard, Our Hospice president.

“Although we were a little short of our goal, we still consider $124,000 a great success,” Leonard said. “We had near-perfect weather to enjoy the 33rd Summer Concert in a beautiful outdoor setting.”

Leonard extended gratitude to concert title sponsor Faurecia Clean Mobility and partner sponsor Columbus Regional Health, as well as additional supporters, underwriters, staff, board of directors, volunteers and community members.

Contributions from the Faurecia grill design teams as well as the sale of grill raffle tickets, raised $12,000.

“We are very thankful for the support of Faurecia as well as the Faurecia employees who spent countless hours creating these amazing grills to be raffled off to raise funds for Our Hospice,” said Leonard.

The Skyview Experience atop the amphitheater next to the concert stage was another success as it doubled in size this year and many of the Skyview guests were repeat guests from last year who brought friends this year to enjoy this unique view of the concert, dinner and VIP parking.

“We think the Skyview Experience is a welcome addition to the festivities of the concert, and it is a source of additional revenue towards our goal,” said Leonard.

George and Teresa Corbin were the winning bidders for the concert art, “Eye of the Tiger” by local artist Donna Rosenberg. Proceeds from the online auction support Our Hospice.
