State reports 58 new cases of COVID-19

The Indiana State Department of Health reported 58 new cases of COVID-19 in Indiana on Monday, raising the statewide total to 259. Seven Indiana residents have died.

A new case of COVID-19 was reported in Jennings County, bringing the county’s total to two.

Jennings County commissioners declared a public health emergency on Monday, restricting travel, and closing nonessential businesses.

No new cases were reported in Bartholomew County on Monday, with the county being listed with five positive test results.

As of Sunday, Bartholomew County health officials had tested 209 residents for COVID-19, and 35 negative results, with the remaining tests still pending.

Marion County has the most COVID-19 cases of any county in the state with 110 positive tests and three deaths.

A total of 1,960 tests have been reported to ISDH to date, including 466 in the last 24 hours, according to ISDH.

So far, cases have been reported in 40 of Indiana’s 92 counties, including:

Adams (1), Allen (6, 1 death), Bartholomew (5), Boone (3), Clark (5), Delaware (3, 1 death), Dubois (1), Elkhart (4), Fayette (1), Floyd (4), Franklin (4), Grant (3), Hamilton (21), Hancock (3) Harrison(1), Hendricks(12), Howard (6), Jennings (2), Johnson (14, 1 death), Lake (11), LaPorte (2), Madison (3), Marion (110, 3 deaths), Miami (1), Monroe (3), Morgan (3), Noble (1), Owen (2), Putnam (1), Ripley (1), Scott (1, 1 death), Shelby (1), St. Joseph (9), Tippecanoe (2), Tipton (2), Vanderburgh (1), Vigo (2), Washington (2), Wayne (1), Wells (1).

The most recent death linked to the virus was an Allen County adult over age 60 whose death was announced Sunday by the Allen County Health Department.

Cases of COVID-19 continued to rise in much of the world on Monday, with at least 351,000 cases globally and at least 15,300 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University, which maintains a running total of cases.

With more than 35,000 cases, the United States now has the third most cases of any country in the world behind China and Italy.

As of Monday morning, New York state had the most cases of any state in the country, with nearly 17,000 and around 100 deaths — or roughly the same number of cases as the entire country of France.

Washington state had nearly 2,000 cases and 95 deaths and New Jersey had at least 1,900 cases and 21 deaths.
