The Mill Race Marathon Committee, along with the City of Columbus and Columbus Regional Health, are canceling this year’s marathon to protect the health and safety of participants, volunteers and residents.
Committee members said they have carefully considered the progress of COVID-19 and different scenarios for conducting this years race as a live event.
Many unknowns remain about COVID-19, and the fact that a sizable group of virus carriers never show symptoms makes it very difficult to manage and prevent spread in public situations, especially those with large gatherings. according to the announcement.
Organizers are considering the option of holding the Mill Race Marathon Race events as virtual races for 2020. For those already registered, we will offer a refund or transfer to 2021 event. More details on refunds, transfers and the virtual events will be coming soon, organizers said.
