COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Columbus Parks and Recreation Department has released a Request for Proposals for the operation of the Greenbelt Golf Course.

Details, bidder requirements and a copy of the RFP are available on the parks department website. Hard copies are available at Donner Center. The deadline for submissions is noon Aug. 28.

The RFP states that if a respondent is awarded the ground lease for Greenbelt, there will be no subsidy from the city for managing and operating the property as a public golf course.

The new operator would also pay the city an annual lease fee of $1 for the property and its facilities. The initial term for the lease is five years.

Lease terms are negotiable, according to the document, but all ownership interest, including improvements, remain with the city.

If Greenbelt is leased to a new operator, city inspectors would have the right to visit the golf course unannounced to “inspect operations and ensure proper maintenance.”
