East JV runs past Highlanders

Ethan Duncan ran for a touchdown and threw for two more to lead Columbus East to a 31-14 Hoosier Hills Conference junior varsity football win against Floyd Central.

Ethan Duncan scored on a 5-yard run and threw a pair of 20-yard touchdown passes to Nico Alveraz for the Olympians (4-2, 3-0). Jaevon Smith ran 20 yards for the other score.

Duncan also threw a 2-point conversion pass to Mason Larrison, and Bo Wagner ran for a 2-point conversion. Nathaniel Hedrick kicked an extra point.

TENNIS

Shah named MVP

Parth Shah has been selected MVP of the Northside Middle School boys tennis team.

Aiden Bryan and Zyan Vallette were named Most Improved. Cam Shute won the Seventh Grade Mental Attitude Award, and Michael Crossman won the Eighth Grade Mental Attitude Award.

VOLLEYBALL

Panthers finish 10-0

The Jennings County seventh-grade White team beat Seymour 25-14, 25-14 Thursday to finish 10-0 and win the Tri-County championship. Addison Martin led the Panthers with five aces, and Mollie Ernstes added four aces.

The Panthers eighth-grade White team fell to Seymour 24-25, 25-18, 15-11. Ava Ebbing served two aces, and Mallory Manowitz added one ace.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Jennings takes third

Northside Middle School won the Tri-County Invitational with 33 points to 46 for Seymour, 70 for Jennings County and 99 for Central.

Kraedyn Young led Jennings with a fourth-place finish in 10 minutes, 33 seconds for 2 miles. Brock Maschino took 13th in 11:18, while Aaron Lewis was 14th (11:20), Nathan Fewell 19th (11:59) and Colten McCullouth 20th (12:18).

The Panthers finished fifth in Thursday’s Bedford Invitational, which was won by Oolitic. Young placed sixth in 11:52, while Lewis was 12th (12:23), Maschino 26th (12:55), Fewell 32nd (13:19) and McCullough 40th (13:45).
