North routs Roncalli

INDIANAPOLIS — Class 4A No. 1 Columbus North ran its winning streak to 15 Saturday with a 9-1 win at Roncalli.

Austin Bode went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs, and Hayden McDaniel went 3 for 4 for the Bull Dogs (15-0-1), who pounded out 12 hits.

Reese Harmon, winning pitcher Jacob Bailey and Zach Wager combined on a four hitter. North pitchers, who had thrown four consecutive shutouts, extended their scoreless streak to 29 innings before the Royals plated a run in the fifth.

Panthers, Trojans split

ST. LEON — Jennings County won the opener 13-9, but East Central pulled out a 10-9 win in the second game to salvage a doubleheader split.

Jacob Vogel went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Carson McNulty went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Ian Sawyer went 2 for 5 with a triple and two RBIs and Logan McIntosh had two RBIs in the first game for the Panthers. Austin Martin picked up the pitching victory.

In the second game, Vogel had three RBIs, and Sawyer added two RBIs for Jennings (4-4).

Crusaders fall in extras

DUGGER — Columbus Christian battled back from an 8-1 deficit to take a 12-10 lead, but Dugger Union scored two in the seventh and two in the eighth to pull out a 14-13 win.

Cam Watts-Pritchard went 4 for 6, and Parker Walden went 3 for 5 with two doubles and six RBIs for the Crusaders (0-2). Drew Robison had a double and three RBiS.

Lancers fall twice

INDIANAPOLIS — Edinburgh came agonizingly close to posting its first win of the season, but Indianapolis Lutheran scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a 9-8 win.

Colin Richardson went 3 for 3, and Cade Anderson went 2 for 4 for the Lancers (0-7). Jarrett Turner had two RBIs.

Earlier in the day, Edinburgh fell to Eminence 12-1 in five innings.

Trinity tops Brownstown

BROWNSTOWN — Jack Marksberry hit a grand slam and threw a complete game to lead Trinity Lutheran to a 7-2 win at Brownstown Central.

The Cougars improved to 7-5.

Hauser wins twice

INDIANAPOLIS — Class A co-No. 4 Hauser picked up a pair of wins at Indianapolis Lutheran, beating the host Saints 15-1 in five innings and Edinburgh 11-6.

Paige McDaniel threw a two-hitter against Lutheran. Hannah Taylor went 3 for 3, Kyra Meister and Kylie Mack each went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Zoee Nading went 2 for 4 with a double and a triple and three RBIs. Morgan Bottoms had three RBIs, and Dani Steward added two RBIs.

Against the Lancers, Taylor went 2 for 4 with a double and four RBIs, Meister went 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs and Steward went 2 for 4 with a double. Kaydence Gates picked up the pitching victory for the Jets (12-2).

Edinburgh outhit Hauser 14-12. Gracie Crawhorn went 3 for 4 with a double and a triple, Kaitlyn Bailey went 3 for 4 with two doubles, MacKenzie Bieker went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Carly Cowan went 2 for 4 with a double.

The Lancers (5-7) then bounced back with a 16-7 win against Lutheran. Crawhorn went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs; Kyah Streeval went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs; Bailey went 3 for 5 with a double; Catey Streeval went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Mackenzie Whetstine went 2 for 6 with a double and two RBIs.

East falls to Franklin

FRANKLIN — Columbus East dropped a pair of one-run heartbreakers, falling 5-4 and 10-9 at Franklin.

The Grizzly Cubs scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win in the opener. Julia Sitterding went 2 for 4 with a double, and Addy Ross had two RBIs for the Olympians.

East (2-13) jumped out to a 5-0 lead, scored in all seven innings and outhit Franklin 11-7 in the second game. Julia Sitterding went 3 for 3 with three doubles, Kerigan Greathouse went 3 for 4 with two doubles, Saige Stahl went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs and Kenzie Foster went 2 for 3 with a triple.

Shiners sweep Cougars

RISING SUN — Rising Sun scored 11 times in the first inning of the first game and went on to sweep a doubleheader from South Decatur 15-3 in five innings and 10-4.

Molly Eden went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs for the Cougars in the opener.

In the second game, Erynn Dyer went 3 for 4, Molly Eden went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs for South Decatur. Loryn Pate went 2 for 3 with a triple.

TRACK AND FIELD

Hauser boys second

SHELBYVILLE — Hauser’s boys finished second in Friday’s Edinburgh Lancer relays at Southwestern (Shelby). Indy Genesis won with 117 points, and the Jets edged South Decatur 92-87 for second.

Southwestern won the girls meet with 114 points. South Decatur finished third with 93, and Hauser was fourth with 58.

The Jets’ Aleck Lopez and Cameron Toole combined to win the boys long jump (33-10). Alex Bower, Toole, Thomas Essex and Lopez took the 4×400 relay (3:50); and Bower, Lopez, Toole and Forest Steele captured the shuttle hurdle relay (58.1).

The Cougars’ Ian Frensemeier teamed with Ryken Winchester to win the shot (74-2 1/2) and with Rhett Martin to take the discus (199-5). South Decatur also won the distance medley (13:14) and shot put (57.3) relays.

The Cougar girls won the distance medley (8:14) and shot put (1:04) relays. Hauser’s Carly Beeker finished second in the 100 hurdles (18.0), and the Jets were second in the shuttle hurdle relay (1:12).
