MAGNIFICENT BEAST, June 15 to 22, Bartholomew County Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. The documentary “Magnificent Beast” is about the history of pigs and humans together. Since the dawn of humanity, pigs have had a complex relationship with us as food, as foe, and even as friend. Author Tess Gerritsen and her son Josh Gerritsen traveled around the world interviewing archaeologists, religious scholars, hunters and pet pig owners. Their journey reveals the many ways this intelligent and complex animal has found its way into religious scripture, onto our dinner tables, and even into our homes. Galleries, museums, exhibits
BROWN COUNTY HISTORY CENTER, 90 E. Gould Street, Nashville. Brown County Pioneer Women’s Club will host a Quilt Exhibit in the Grand Hall at the BC History Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 11 and 12. Displayed quilts will be from PWC members’ collections in addition to a Red, White and Blue collection from quilter Cindy Claycamp. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase for the donation quilt and treasure baskets. Vendors from central Indiana will have sewing/quilting items for sale. Sponsors for the 2021 Exhibit are the Nashville Spice Company and the Yellow Door Quilt Store. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. Proceeds support the Brown County Historical Society and the History Center.
BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY, 524 Third St., Columbus. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. BCHS hosts two permanent exhibits that share the history and heritage of Bartholomew County. Most recently, an “Early Industrialists” exhibit was installed. The historical society also hosts rotating exhibits throughout the year featuring items from their extensive collection. Currently they are featuring a quilt exhibit, “The Great Cover Up,” which celebrates the societies centennial and county bicentennial through its quilts and coverlets.
