COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies are investigating a fire which destroyed an abandoned 1892 one-room school house at East County Road 250N and North County Road 500E.
Known as Petersville School, the structure had been vandalized in recent years, according to some Republic readers who sent in photos of the fire.
Clay Township, Columbus Township and Clifford firefighters put out the fire. There were no injuries.
Columbus Regional Hospital ambulance services assisted at the scene.
