Mrs. Rose Bernadine Savonen passed away Monday, February 18, 2013, at The Seymour Crossing Nursing Home.
Rose was born in Springhill, MN, the fifth child of Frank and Mary (Braun) Weisser. She attended school in Spring Hill, MN, and college in Antigo, Wisconsin. In 1948, she married Carl Lewis Savonen Jr. They spent most of their married life in Seymour, IN, where they enjoyed showing and caring for their quarter horses.
Rose and Carl were previous owners of A&W Drive-In Restaurant and CowTown Steakhouse, both formerly in Seymour. Rose was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, the Elks Club, Elks Auxiliary, Legion of Mary Auxiliary, Hospital Guild and Farm Bureau.
Survivors include her son, Ronald Karl Savonen; a granddaughter, Traci (Chad) DeBord; two great-grandsons, Jordan and Dylan Peters; and two sisters, Lee Lengas and Lal Zimmer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and five sisters.
A private memorial service will take place at Voss Chapel in Seymour, followed by private entombment at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be written to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or to the donor’s choice of charities.
All arrangements have been entrusted to Voss & Sons Funeral Service, Seymour, IN.
