Otis William Jones, 93, of Franklin, died at 3:44 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
Mr. Jones was a 1937 graduate of Edinburgh High School and an Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1982 from J.I. Case Co., was former co-owner of Stine and Jones Grocery Store in Edinburgh and formerly farmed in Needham Township.
He was a member of the former First Christian Church in Edinburgh, a former member of Edinburgh Lions Club and a member of Edinburgh American Legion Post No. 233.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Franklin American Legion Post No. 205.
Born in Edinburgh April 10, 1920, Mr. Jones was the son of Virgil T. Jones and Nora Huber Jones. He married Caroline McClain Aug. 3, 1946.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Jay I. (Kathy) Jones of Mount Sterling, Ky., Bruce A. (Trish) Jones of Franklin and Maynard Jones of Franklin; four grandchildren, Gretchen Wood, Jay I. Jones II, Carey Elizabeth Wettlaufer and Clayton Jones; and five great-grandchildren, Evan Wood, Spencer Wood, Logan Wettlaufer, Landon Wettlaufer and Carter Jones.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Pauline Coles and Virginia Marsh.
