Walter S. “Steve” Buckner, 62, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.

Born July 4, 1951, in Franklin, he was the son of Oren Keith and Kathleen Jean (Lee) Buckner.

Steve is survived by his former spouse, Carol (Lattimore) Buckner; daughter, Shannon Buckner of Florida; son, Troy Buckner of Florida; brother, Jim Buckner of Franklin; sisters, Nancy Burke of Franklin and Kathy Murray of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; a brother, Fred Buckner; and sister, Sandy Walker.

Steve was a 1969 graduate of Indian Creek High School and attended Indiana University. He served in the National Guard, Army Reserves and was employed in many different positions with Farm Bureau Co-op for several years.

He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed fishing and golfing and spending time on his boat.

Friends may call on Sunday, April 6th, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin.
