Irene Henderson, 91, of South 175 West, passed away at 6:42 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Irene was born on January 22, 1923 in Monroe County to the late Oze and Cora Grubb Axsom. She married George M. Henderson on June 27, 1940 in Columbus, who preceded her in death on October 23, 2011. Irene was a former member of the Greasy Creek Pentecostal Church and Seventh Street Church of God. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, the outdoors and loved spending time with her family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Darrell Douglas and Pastor Dale Goddard officiating.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Survivors include his children, Phyllis D. Henderson, Judy (Dale) Goddard, David E. Henderson, and Bonnie L. (David) Bauerle all of Columbus; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Phillip D. Henderson; and brothers, Tom, Bill, Stan, Nick, Gene and Ernie Axsom.
