Mary J. Hankins, 85, of 12th Street, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at her home.
Mary was born August 7, 1928, in Cortland, Indiana to the late James and Edna Fleetwood Elkins.
She married William J. Hankins in 1947, who preceded her in death on May 6, 1998. Mary was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed going to the casino and garage sales. She enjoyed her time spent with her family and friends.
In keeping with Mary's wishes cremation is planned.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Wes Jones officiating. Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Mary is survived by her children, Nancy Hankins, William (Elaine) Hankins, Michael (Connie) Hankins, and Donna (Danny) Cross, all of Columbus; a sister, Geneva Warner of Columbus; brothers, Gene and Elisha Elkins both of Columbus; grandchildren, Mark, Kelly, Travis, Aaron, Tonya, and Michelle; great-grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, Aaliyah, Bladen, Trinity, Brendon and Chesney; and great-great-grandchilden, Xavier and Ethan.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers and sisters, Vallie Brown, Alma Mahoney, Erlean Sigler, Martha Elkins, and Claude, Clyde, Cliff, Lester Elkins.
