Linda Darnell Kent was born July 18, 1946, in Kurtz, Indiana. She passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at 5:10 p.m. at Coastal Hospice on the Lake at Salisbury, Maryland. She was only 67.
Linda had been ill for 12 years, fighting hard along the way. She fought with great strength and dignity, never thinking about herself, only thinking of others. She never wanted much except to be with her family and to live.
Linda grew up in Columbus and always enjoyed coming home to visit and be with friends and family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. Linda was admired, respected and loved very much and will be greatly missed by all. She enjoyed her gardening and angels.
Linda is survived by her husband, Larry Kent, and her daughter, Lori (Tim) Miller of Pocomoke City, Maryland, both of whom stood by her and helped her through her last days; her son, Mark (Sheryl) Kent of Columbus; her parents, Glendal and Jean Murphy Hadley of Columbus; a sister, Cheryl McCain of Columbus; brothers, David Hadley of Columbus and Richard (Gloria) Sutton of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Chris and Michael Kent, Timmy Miller, Jacob Wilson, Isaiah Tessereau and Dara and Noah McCleary; great-grandchildren, Haley, Carter and Izabella Kent, Aubry and Ayva Ford and Xavier Moore; nieces and nephews, James and Billie Hadley, Kim Stungis, and Sheri Jensen; and her special Faithful Friends, Whisper and Misty.
Linda was preceded in death by two sons, Darin and Sean Kent; a daughter-in-law, Robin Kent; granddaughters, Samantha Ford and Jamie Kent; a sister, Janet Roscoe; a nephew, Matthew Roscoe; her mother and father-in-law, Ed and Myrt Kent; and grandparents, Dora and Martha Murphy and Arthur and Lucy Hadley.
Linda’s funeral will be Thursday June 12, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street, with Rev. Larry McIntosh officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Donaldson Cemetery.
