Vincent Paul Pongracz, 76, of Fairlawn Court, died at 6:57 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Vincent was born June 28, 1937, in East Chicago, Indiana, the son of Vincent and Mary Ferenz Pongracz. He married Margaret Wontorek June 20, 1959.
He graduated in 1955 from Bishop Noll High School in Hammond, Indiana, and in 1959 from Purdue University. He retired in 1997 as a systems analyst at Cummins Engine Company after 38 years service.
Vince was a charter member of St. Columba Catholic Church and a current member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. He generously gave his time to Columbus Jaycees, East Columbus Kiwanis Club, the Salvation Army and the Christmas Cheer Fund. He was also a volunteer driver for the Senior Center and coached Little League Baseball for Columbus Parks and Rec.
Vince enjoyed fishing, golfing and model railroading.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, with Father Clem Davis officiating. Calling will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Monday. Private family burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to East Columbus Kiwanis Club or Riley Hospital for Children.
Survivors include Marge, his wife of 54 years; children, Denise (Mark) Langhenry of Tuscon, Arizona, William (Jenni) Pongracz of Springfield, Illinois, and Phillip (Tanya) Pongracz of Indianapolis; brothers, Ronald (Rita) Pongracz of Calumet City, Illinois, and Eugene Pongres of Des Moines, Iowa; and grandchildren, Mike Langhenry, Jen Langhenry, Abby Pongracz and Adam Pongracz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Pongracz.
Services were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
