Howard Grant “Howie” Barrett, 84, of Orlando, Florida, passed away June 28, 2014, at his home. Howard was born June 25, 1930, in Edinburgh, Indiana, to Roscoe and Celia (Rittenhouse) Barrett.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 100 in Edinburgh, Indiana. He graduated from Elgin Watchmakers College and later from the John Herron School of Art.
In 1969 he moved his family to Orlando, and began a twenty-three-year career as an art director at Martin Marietta, later Lockheed Martin.
He enjoyed sailing and built several boats.
Survivors include Betty, his wife 60 years; four sons, Marc, Paul, Mike, and Doug; daughters-in-law, Melinda and Sue; and four grandchildren, Bradley, Evan, Rory and Alexa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's local Humane Society or animal shelter.
At the family’s request, there will be no service.
Arrangements were made by Robert Bryant Funeral & Cremation Chapel in Orlando.
