Northern Indiana police investigating suspicious vehicle report find man dead inside

SOUTH BEND, Indiana — A northern Indiana sheriff's department investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle by a passing motorist found a man inside who died after his car apparently ran off the road near South Bend and crashed into some trees.

St. Joseph County Police Sgt. William Redman tells the South Bend Tribune the single-vehicle accident occurred about 1:10 a.m. Sunday. WSBT-TV reports the victim was 22-year-old Tanner Williams of Osceola.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Redman says the crash is under investigation.
