KENT, Ohio — Khaliq Spicer had 21 points and 13 rebounds as Kent State pulled away late to beat Eastern Michigan 73-58 on Tuesday night.
Spicer, who had 13 points in the second half, also had five blocks. Jimmy Hall added 13 points, and Kellon Thomas and Chris Ortiz had 12 apiece for Kent State (15-5, 6-1 Mid-American Conference), which has won five consecutive games.
Kent State held Eastern Michigan to just 7-of 32 shooting from the floor in the second half.
Trailing 32-31 at the half, Spicer made six straight points and Ortiz hit a jumper to start the second period and Kent State took a 48-41 lead. Willie Mangum IV, who finished with 12 points, answered with two consecutive treys to close to 48-47 with 7:59 left. Kent Sate responded with a 22-7 run.
Raven Lee had 15 points and James Thompson IV added 14 for Eastern Michigan (10-10, 2-5).
