Julie D sets pace, wins Belmont Park feature in the slop


NEW YORK — Julie D held off Make the Moment by a neck in the slop Wednesday to take the $85,000 allowance feature for filly and mare sprinters at Belmont Park.

Breaking from the rail, the 3-year-old trained by Jeremiah Englehart set the fractions to earn a third straight win. The time was 1:10.93 for the six furlongs.

Julie D paid $15.60, $6.90 and $4.80.

Make the Moment returned $5.20 and $3.80 while Angel Code, the 2-1 favorite, paid $2.80 to show.
