Woman of the Year

Woman of the Year and introducing the Women to Watch Magazine
The Republic is accepting nominations for its annual Woman of the Year, a prestigious honor that recognizes one woman from Bartholomew County for her contributions toward creating a vital community. Honorees are selected on their contributions to creating a high quality of life here with an emphasis on long-term activity, hands-on work and diverse involvement.
As a new addition this year, The Republic will also accept nominations to honor Women to Watch. Profiles of these individuals, along with the Woman of the Year, will be featured in a Women to Watch Magazine to be published at the time of the Women of the Year presentation.
History: Founded in 1982 by Republic Features Editor Jean Prather, The Republic has selected a Woman of the Year each year. Each honoree receives a custom-made necklace and $2,000 to be awarded to the recipient’s charity of choice. In 2023, we are introducing a new magazine to honor the Woman of the Year and a select number of nominees in the Women to Watch Magazine.
Eligibility: Nominations are restricted to residents of Bartholomew County.
How to nominate: To nominate an individual for Woman of the Year, click here, or pick up a nomination form at the front desk of The Republic, 2980 N. National Road, Columbus, during business hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. All nominees will be considered for Woman of the Year and Women to Watch.
Nomination deadline: March 1, 2024
This year’s ceremonies will be at The Commons in June 2024. Check back at therepublic.com for more details or contact Julie McClure, Republic editor, 812-379-5665.
