Anxiously awaiting After Prom

Jennings County High School After Prom promises to be a great event this year. Themed “Night at the Movies,” it will feature new events such as a mechanical bull, an obstacle course, the “Meltdown” as seen on the TV show “Wipeout,” and laser tag.

After Prom is 11:30 p.m. May 2 to 2 a.m. May 3 at the high school.

Previously, many students came to After Prom, took a quick walk around and then left. This year, junior class parents and other sponsors have worked hard to ensure a great time, including rewards for students who stay.

After Prom will feature:

  • Fun activities such as mini golf, table tennis, bean-bag toss, an inside bonfire (including s’mores).
  • Food such as walking tacos, pizza, a barbeque and an ice cream sundae bar with brownies and cookies.
  • Great door prizes such as four free Indiana Beach Tickets, two free tickets to Marengo Cave, a mini fridge and a Colts prize pack.

After Prom offers students a chance to win a gift card or prize every 15 minutes. Students have to be present to win. A grand prize of gift cards worth $250 will be given away toward the end.

Volunteers also are needed to help set After Prom, at 5 p.m. May 1.

The total cost to put on After Prom for the students is about $4,000, and organizers are short of that goal. Anyone wishing to make a donation to support After Prom drop off or mail checks to the high school.

The efforts of some students have created a buzz from seniors and underclassmen all throughout school. This promises to be the best After Prom ever.
