Cheerleading group sets sessions, evaluations

Columbus Power Elite All-Star Cheerleading will host open sessions Monday and April 20. Grade 3 and younger will be from 5 to 6 p.m., and Grades 4 to 12 will be from 6 to 7 p.m.

There is a $25 participation fee.

All-Star Skill Evaluations will be April 25 at Foundation For Youth. Grade 3 and younger will have registration from 1:30 to 2 p.m., with a whole group skill evaluation from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Grade 4 and older will have registration from 2:30 to 3 p.m., with a whole group skill evaluation from 3 to 3:45 p.m.

Dates announced for Ceraland spring leagues

Ceraland has announced dates for its basketball, golf, softball and sandpit volleyball leagues.

For basketball, there will be a Monday Corporate League beginning Monday and a Wednesday Open League beginning Wednesday. Costs are $425 for the Monday night league and $325 for the Wednesday night league, and those costs include a sports and fitness center fee.

The golf leagues will be Mondays and Thursdays at Otter Creek beginning this week. Cost is $20 per league for a nonpass holder and $10 for a pass holder. Each league is limited to 14 teams.

The CERA men’s softball league starts April 30 and will be played from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursdays. Cost is $400 per team. The league will consist of a 10-game season, with a single-elimination tournament.

For sandpit volleyball, the coed intermediate league starts May 4, the Tuesday King and Queen league begins May 5, and the coed competitive league starts May 7. Cost is $100 for the coed intermediate and competitive leagues.

Dunn Stadium church league sign-ups continue

Sports physicals to be available at North

The Columbus North Bull Dog Booster Club will conduct sports physicals for the 2015-16 school year beginning at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Northside Middle School for all current Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. and parochial school students. Registration will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m., with no late registration accepted.

Cost is $20 cash or check, with checks payable to Columbus North Bull Dog Booster Club. Students must be accompanied by a parent and fill out the IHSAA physical form, which is available in the North athletics office, on its website or at the door.

Columbus North to plans football call-out meeting

The official call-out meeting for next year’s Columbus North football team will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the school cafeteria.

The meeting is for incoming freshmen through seniors and at least one parent. Adidas orders will also take place.

East Wrestling Club offers ‘Mulch Madness’

The Columbus East Wrestling Club is again conducting “Mulch Madness” to deliver mulch to individuals and businesses. Deliveries will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 9 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 10.

Cost is $49 per yard, plus $30 to spread one yard, $45 to spread two yards or $60 to spread three yards.

Foundation For Youth sets dates for leagues

Registration is underway for Foundation For Youth’s youth volleyball, adult basketball and NFL flag football leagues.

The youth volleyball league, a fundamentals league for all experience levels for Grades 1 to 8, begins May 12, with practices and games at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through June at FFY. Cost is $50 and includes a T-shirt.

The adult basketball league starts May 18, with games at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Mondays through July at FFY. Players create their own teams, and rosters of between seven and 12 players must be submitted by May 13. Cost is $30 per player, with a $300 minimum per team.

The NFL flag football league for kindergarten to Grade 8 begins June 2, with practices and games at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through July at the PAAL complex. Broomball signups under way for leagues

Signups are under way for three broomball leagues at Hamilton Center Ice Arena.

The 3-on-3 Small Ice League will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursdays beginning May 14. Players can sign up as a team or as an individual to be placed on a team.

Summer Session No. 1 will be from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Tuesdays from June 2 to 30. Players sign up individually and will be drafted to a team.

Summer Session No. 2 will be July 14 to Aug. 11. Players will be redrafted following Summer Session No. 1.

North girls basketball to conduct youth camp

Columbus North girls basketball coach Pat McKee, his assistants, players from the Class 4A state champion Bull Dog team and guest coaches will host the 2015 Columbus North Girls Basketball Youth Camp June 8 to 11 in Memorial Gym.

Sessions will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for girls entering Grades 7 and 8, 1:15 to 3:15 p.m. for girls entering Grades 5 and 6 and 3:30 to 5 p.m. for girls entering Grades 2 to 4. Players from all sessions are invited to attend a session involving a guest from the Indiana Fever at 3 p.m. June 11.

Cost by May 28 is $60 for girls entering Grades 5 to 8 and $55 for girls entering Grades 2 to 4, with checks payable to “CNHS Girls Basketball.” Registration will be accepted after May 28 with a $5 late fee, but a camp T-shirt will not be guaranteed. The first 90 girls who register will receive a certificate that is redeemable for admission at a select Fever game this season.

Ceraland will host Two Good hoops camp

Former Columbus East girls basketball coach Mel Good will host the Two Good Basketball Camp from 8 a.m. to noon June 22 to 25 at Ceraland. Cost is $145, or $105 with a Ceraland annual pass.

Book about North girls state hoops title on sale

“We Will Rise: The Captivating Journey of the 2014-15 Columbus North Bull Dogs,” a 32-page book about the girls basketball team’s state championship season, is in the North athletics office.

The book features more than 100 color photos from throughout the season, a season overview article, recaps of all 29 games, a photo-roster page, a list of varsity game results, final season statistics and an article about some of the team members’ postseason honors.
