Offers suffer scrapes during arrest of suspect

Two Columbus police officers suffered cuts and scrapes while arresting a man accused of threatening to kill family members.

Police were called to the 3800 block of Candlelight Drive at 7 p.m. Friday on a report of a man making the threats, said Sgt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Police found Joshua R. Chiodo, 24, 2659 Joseph Cox Court, hiding in bushes at a residence on Candlelight Drive, Harris said.

When police tried to put handcuffs on Chiodo, he began to resist and fight officers, Harris said.

Chiodo also is accused of damaging a rear-passenger panel of a patrol car while he was placed inside the vehicle, Harris said.

The officers did not require hospital treatment for their injuries.

Chiodo was arrested on preliminary charges of two counts of battery, intimidation, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement, according to jail officials.

He was released from the Bartholomew County Jail after posting $46,000 bond, according to jail officials.
