John O. Manion, 95, of Rineyville, KY., formerly of Columbus, died at 12:55 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Helmwood Health Care Center in Elizabethtown, KY.

John was born October 25, 1919, in Bartholomew County, the son of Dempsey B. and Lottie McMahan Manion. He married Reba A. Kyle on May 18, 1945.

John retired from Cosco Manufacturing after 37 years of service in 1983 and was also a retired farmer. He was a member of the East Columbus Christian Church where he was previously a Board Member, Elder and Deacon for 32 years.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bridgewater officiating. Calling will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions will be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Survivors include his wife, Reba A. Manion; daughters, Linda (Paul) Covell of Rinneyville, KY and Ellen (Robert) Salmons of Rutherfordton, N.C.; grandchildren, Bryan (Kendra) Covell of Elizabethtown, KY and Leann (Earl) Staley of Rineyville, KY; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Staley, Emma Staley, Elise Covell and another great-grandchild expected in October.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edna Hawkins and an infant sister; half-brothers, Ray, Roy and Harry Manion; and half-sister, Ruth Dinn.
