Local residents with diabetes or those at risk for the disease can learn how to make healthy choices at the Bartholomew County Purdue Extension Office’s Dining with Diabetes event.
Starting today and continuing every Thursday through Oct. 1, the extension office will host the diabetes seminars from 10 a.m. to noon at Eastside Community Center, 421 McClure Road.
The sessions will cover healthy food choices, diet planning, physical activity and other health-related topics that also relate to diabetes.
The event is open to all members of the public, including those who are not diabetic but wish to learn more about the disease.
The program costs $20 per person total for the four sessions, which covers materials and lunch. Pairs who wish to share materials can pay $15. Scholarship money also is available.
Payment may be made at the door, but pre-registration is required. Participants can register by calling the Bartholomew County extension office at 812-379-1665.
