For the Hertle family of Columbus, running is a family tradition.
For example, Colby Hertle, 14, said he runs cross-country all year long.
“But this is a bit longer,” said the Central Middle School student as he prepared to begin the 5K race.
When asked why he does it, Hertle said it’s a fun activity that helps him stay in shape.
But then, the teen admitted that participating in the Mill Race Marathon has become an annual father-son tradition.
“It’s a good personal challenge for both of us,” said his dad, Greg Hertle, 42. “And seeing the hometown crowd out here supporting us makes it a lot more fun.”
