Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. announced its decision to take bids and sell the Educational Services Center on Washington Street, the former Columbus Post Office building. The school corporation was deeded the building in 1971 when the old post office was declared federal surplus property.

East Columbus Fire Department paid $18,000 for 28 new lightweight uniforms that resisted the intense heat of a fire.

Columbus basketball fans learned they would get 3,361 of the 7,034 local sectional tourney tickets allotted to the eight participating schools at a public drawing set for Feb. 22, two days before the tourney was to start.
