United Way seeks volunteers for Day of Caring

The United Way of Bartholomew County is recruiting volunteers for the second annual Day of Caring on June 24.

Day of Caring is a full-day volunteer event that connects community members with local nonprofit and residential volunteer projects in Bartholomew County. More than 200 positions are available for volunteers for a variety of projects, including planting flowers, mulching, painting, cleaning sections of the People Trail, organizing and sorting donations and small home repairs.

More than 500 volunteers participated in last year’s Day of Caring, with a combined 2,500 volunteer hours worth an estimated $53,000 in value of work for the community.

People interested in volunteering should contact Joy King at [email protected] or call 812-314-2960 to register.

Foundation For Youth will host a Day of Caring community lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day. All proceeds will benefit Foundation For Youth teen programs. Sit-down dining and carryout orders are available. To place an order or learn more about the lunch, contact Jennifer Shaver Morrill of Foundation For Youth at 812-348-4558.
