Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Nashville resident after he was accused of fleeing from deputies in a vehicle and then barricading himself inside the vehicle threatening to harm himself.
Thomas R. Brockman, 43, 1197 Nelson Ridge Road, Nashville, was arrested on charges of auto theft, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, driving while suspended with a prior conviction, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident at about 1:27 a.m. Wednesday, deputies said.
Deputy Leah Burton was traveling eastbound on State Road 46 when she attempted to stop Brockman’s vehicle, deputies said. After activating her emergency lights and siren, a pursuit ensued when Brockman refused to stop and continued north on to Dam Road before proceeding on to Old Nashville Road.
Brockman stopped the vehicle at Old Nashville Road and West State Road 46, where he barricaded himself in the vehicle and threatened to harm himself, deputies said. At that time, Burton broke a window and Columbus Police Department K9 Argo was sent into the vehicle, deputies said.
Brockman is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $23,500 bond, jail officials said.
