Sara Elaine Hankins, 65, Columbus, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Born October 23, 1950, in Greensburg, she was the daughter of James Thomas and Lorraine M. (Hood) Spillman.
Sara graduated from Franklin College and taught for 40 years, retiring from North Decatur Elementary School.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hope.
Survivors include two sons, James (Jodi) Hankins of Hope and Paul (Lesa) Hankins of Columbus; one daughter, Elaine (Adam) Breeck of Vevay; and seven grandchildren, Haley Cook, Logan Hankins, Tyler (Cindy) Daugherty, Alyssa Daugherty, Blake Daugherty, Cody Larrison, Hunter Larrison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sue Ellen Magargel; and one grandchild, Alexander Hankins.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dan Barringer officiating.
Interment will be held in the Shiloh Cemetery.
