Members of International Machinists Union Local 1270 at Rockwell Automation rejected the company’s five-year contract offer and began walking a picket line in shifts.


Gov. Evan Bayh asked federal officials to declare 38 counties — including Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings and Decatur — disaster areas because of drought damage to forage and feed crops, making farmers eligible for assistance from the Farmers Home Administration and the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service.
